This album is dedicated to my maternal grandfather, Grandpa, who passed away in the Fall of 2015. I have so many amazing memories of spending time with Grandpa throughout my life. I remember when he took me fishing, to the hardware store, to the mall carousel. When we spent time at Edisto Beach every year, and when he and Grandma came to my college graduation. While I have so many amazing memories of Grandpa, one memory resurfaces again and again. I remember watching TV at his house and a History Channel type show came on showing film footage of tanks being loaded onto Normandy Beach in WWII. In my youth, I said that I thought the tanks were really cool. As a WWII veteran, he responded in a somewhat stern and fitting way, "There's nothing cool about war, boy". This comment shook me a little bit and continues to remind me of the importance of seeking to be a person of peace. Grandpa was a person of peace. He consistently devoted himself to being loving, compassionate, and kind to others. He faithfully sought to be like his Savior, Jesus. His faithfulness, service, kindness, gentleness, thankfulness, and love will inspire me for the rest of my life. Grandpa, I miss you, am thankful for you, and love you!
