about

These songs were written in response to a variety of acts of racial hatred that have occurred over the past year. In particular, several black churches were burned throughout the southern United States, including one in Houston's 5th Ward just a short distance from my own neighborhood. This EP speaks of racism, grief, the need for change through self-examination, and ultimately of hope for a more just and equal system. I also intend this EP to particularly challenge white people to consider and change ways that we have been actively or passively contributing to systems of racial hatred, discrimination, and inequality. I hope that these songs encourage, challenge, and pretty much push you to take a stand against racism in all of its visible and cloaked forms.

With Love,

Zesty
