Verse 1
I met you the other day b/c I made the choice to not look away. I looked you in the eyes and saw your story printed there. White hair and blue eyes covered by a cardinals hat and a beard like Santa Claus but only half as long and what lay behind those eyes was the closest thing to Neil Young’s Heart of Gold
Chorus
If we’d just look at each other maybe give a wave
If we’d just get to know each other stereotypes would fly away. Who knows what we’d see in each other’s eyes and where that would take us. Maybe out of this isolation and others out of the dust
Verse 2
He grew up in the South Texas Valley, he had a mother who raised him well and did the best she could, to always go the extra mile and put the cherry on the top for him
And he got married at the age of nineteen to a sweet and strict Jewish girl and they had a son named Lee, but first he had to go talk to Rabbi Hyman to be approved of
Verse 3
He made a name for himself as a pesticides applicator, he worked hard and would never take no for an answer
And though he felt invincible he had a type of growing cancer in the form of an addiction to drugs. He asked Jesus to heal him of his addiction, then he went to prison for four years on charges of possession. And he believes that this is how God finally healed him and he’s thankful
Verse 4
Now he sits there in the church coffee shop he worships Jesus and cleans up after folks on Sunday morn and he’s thankful for the kitten God sent to him on Christmas he’s learning tons from it And though he’s homeless and sleeps on his friend’s back porch he’s found a home in God’s heart and the heart of his friends and he’ll continue to grow in God’s good time, he’s found a home in God’s heart and the heart of his friends

Mr. S.
03:51
|

Verse 1
There you were at the corner store,
sitting in a wheelchair drinking liquor
It seems the place you stayed got sold,
now your on the streets sleeping at the bus stop
Verse 2
There you were got shot 5 years ago
In the back by your best friend
Over an argument that crippled you
And landed him in jail
Chorus
Don’t tell me that you know what it’s like living on the streets cuz we all aint evil, lazy people
Don’t tell me you know what it’s like not having food to eat cuz this situation aint just personal responsibility
Verse 3
Cuz sometimes junk comes down the drain and disastor is its name, it’s got me out here selling drugs to eat cuz there aint no jobs. I've heard stories about the ants but I feel more like a crab born into a boiling pot that I can’t get out
Bridge
But I know God’s got my back
Through all this painful crap
I’ve seen Him time and time again
Though I’m selling drugs today
One day I’ll rise above to see
The One and Only, this is my testimony
Rap
I’ll be waking up the night as soon as I scream
I’m stuck in the cage that’s far from my dream
Corrupt with the rage I seen since 19
Paint pictures, embrace the fighter in my genes
Walking on the path that’s meant for high kings
Trying to keep my eyes clear like drops of visine
But the road is dark and I’m trying to see through
But to show my heart I need to like its Noah’s ark
Find a way to change my plans
So I can get a castle from a grain of sand
Understand that I’m not living like an honest man
But ima fight until I step inside the promise land
Now I gotta make a choice with no Morpheus
I can see the lucky stars aren’t supporting this
Gotta smile when the pain feels torturous
But ima fly I’m going through metamorphosis

The Foot of the Cross
06:13
|
|||
Verse 1
I don’t know how to love you, cuz your situation is impossible for me to solve. Life can be so complicated, with all of our human flaws
Chorus 1
But there is mercy for the needy. There is hope for the lost. There is help for the helpless at the foot of the cross, at the foot of the cross
Verse 2
How can I with all my fears and failures, truly love you
How can you in all your misbehavior, Accept love that’s true
Chorus 2
But there is love for the fearful there is love for our hearts
There’s a home for the homeless at the foot of the cross, at the foot of the cross
Bridge
I can’t do it for you, you can’t do it for yourself
b/c your only hope is to call on spiritual help
Chorus 3
There is kindness for the hurting There is healing for your past there is peace that’s never failing at the foot of the cross, at the foot of the cross at the foot of the cross at the foot of the cross

Verse 1
Sometimes I feel like a thorn is sticking right between my head and neck. It doesn’t seem that I can ever find any peace and contentment. And I doubt if this environment can accept a real person. O bad religion can crush a man
Verse 2
O the human mind can be so cruel when it makes the golden rule to follow the golden rules. Instead of allowing love to stand on it’s own. And I know that this all equates to the loss of liberty to perfectionism, O how pride can crush a man
Chorus
O if we’d admit the truth about ourselves would we be free. I’ve never heard of impeachment in spirituality
I never want to be like this again. So I pray I’ll learn and I pray I’ll see
Verse 3
So I hear if it feels good do it, if it’s hard turn away don’t go thru it. Would you turn me into a fool just like you. And I will never see the good things that are there for me if I obey the rules of indulgence O how lust can crush a man
Verse 4
Life isn’t perfect it’s a mess, humanity wears a torn red wedding dressThat’s been ripped by many fruitless flings from the present and the past. All we can do is accept it and seek to correct it. O how love can heal a man
